God this is too hard! God why don’t you step in and do something? God, I do not know what I have done wrong? Sometimes in life, the difficulty of a situation may cause you to question whether I am fulfilling the purpose that God has intended for me in my life.
In this morning’s text, we see Jesus at a very troubling time in His ministry. In His humanity, we see Jesus make a statement in the form of a question. He says, “Father, save Me from this hour?” It is almost as if He is asking the question, Father, are you going to save me from this time or hour in my life? Father, are you going to rescue me from the misery? Father, do I have to go through this? Man, have we asked a question similar to this while serving the Lord? If not, as the old folks say, “just keep on living.
Many times, while fulfilling our purpose for God, we are going to go through some difficult periods; however, in this message there are a few things I need to remind us of as it relates to God’s purpose for our lives because we know the answer to most questions we ask. For Jesus as well, the question was rhetorical. He knew the answer. He knew that this was the very reason He came.
There are a few things I pray that you will remember while you are trying to fulfill the purpose that God has for you. Remember fulfilling a purpose involves:
1. Dealing with your internal struggles
2. Recognizing a difficult situation as “your hour”
3. Embracing yourself in “your hour”
4. Asking God to glorify himself
5. Hearing the voice of God while you are seeking to fulfill your purpose
And so it is, at the most difficult times in our lives, not only must we be able to ask the question; but, we also must be able to answer the question. We must embrace the moment, the time, the situation, the circumstance and God’s purpose. Wherever we are in life, this is where God wants us to be! Whatever I am going through in life, God is going to bring good out of this situation. Whatever is going on, it is not about me, it is about Him.
Therefore, I say to all who read this week’s message, “This is your hour!” This is your hour that you allow God to increase and you decrease! This is your hour, where you fulfill the very purpose that God has given you.
Speak to God in your hour. Ask God to glorify Himself in your hour and give you the strength and boldness to fulfill the purpose that you have been sent. At that moment listen for the voice of God. At that moment, feel the peace of God come upon you. At that moment, know that God will be glorified.
As we close this week’s message, let us apply some principles to our lives for fulfilling our purpose. If we are going to fulfill our purpose, we must:
1. Not become troubled on the inside because we have enough trouble on the outside.
2. Not ask the Lord to save us from difficult situations, but to see us through them
3. Recognize that what we are going through is the purpose God has sent us.
I close with this prayer. Lord, thank you for the purpose for which you have sent each one of us. Lord, right now we embrace every difficult situation in our lives. We thank you, for the power to overcome and the strength to persevere to the end. In Jesus name, AMEN!
