We welcome Lashawn as our opening retreat speaker. LaShawn was born and raised in Salina, Kansas. She accepted Jesus Christ at a very early age as a result of the teaching and leading of the Holy Spirit at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church. LaShawn has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and a Master of Science Degree in Community Counseling from Emporia State University. After graduation, LaShawn moved to Topeka, Kansas where she became an active member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. She met her husband, Carlester Childs, and they were married in August 1999. They have two children. LaShawn teaches classes and conducts workshops/seminars on various topics ranging from evangelism, tithing, and building and developing Godly relationships. She is also a published author of a book of poetry, “Straight From My Uncensored Heart”.  

LaShawn is the First Lady of the First Baptist Church of Tonganoxie, Kansas and continues to minister and serve along with Pastor Childs.

LaShawn is a living witness to the greatness and forgiving power of Jesus Christ. She is not ashamed to proclaim the good news of Jesus and counts it a privilege to be used in His service one more time.
