Obedient Children
I Peter 1:10-21
Are we really saved? Salvation is often talked about, but it seems these days rarely acted upon. I realize we are not saved by our works; however, we should have works that show evidence of our salvation. As children of God, there should be signs or evidence of our salvation. The fig tree in the eleventh chapter of Mark was no good to Jesus when there were no figs on the tree. If we really want to be of service to Jesus in 2009, we should be seeking to show evidence of our salvation.
Children of God should strive to be obedient to God in all areas of their lives. I am thankful God allows us the opportunity to grow; however, the standard of living is still God and we should be constantly thriving to improve our walk and to be like Him.
This week’s message is for our youth in a literal sense; however, a message for all children of God in a spiritual sense. Let us set a goal to be more obedient to the Word of God.
Obedient children must realize that salvation affects
a. Their mind
b. Their spirit
c. Their hope
Application:
Obedient children:
1. If I am a child of God, my desires must change.
2. If I am a child of God, I must continue to seek to know about God through his Word.
3. If I am a child of God, my belief in God must have an affect on all my behavior.
Closing Prayer
Lord, help us to apply to the Word to every area of our lives. Lord, help us not to just say we are Christians and there be no evidence of our salvation. Lord, I thank you that you will help my mind to be in line with you, my spirit to receptive to you and my hope always fixed on you. In Jesus name I pray. AMEN.
