What Really Matters in Life?
Philippians 3:7-11

Introduction:

There comes a time in every Christians life where he or she must determine what really matters. In this week’s message, Paul is lead into a mindset that says all the things that he has gained and/or attained in life don’t mean anything as it relates to gaining Christ.

In the time in which we now live, people seem to focused on gaining everything except Christ.  Fortune and fame are fine; but, nothing without Christ.  Knowledge and power are great but nothing without Christ.  We have drawn 7 things from this week’s message that a Christian should be looking while he or she evaluates their life.

Seven things that really matter in life are:
1.    That we gain a relationship with Christ
2.    That we be found in a continuous relationship with Christ
3.    That we develop an intimate (know) relationship with Christ
4.    That we know we have the power of God working in our lives
5.    That during suffering we maintain fellowship with God.
6.    That we live like Christ died.
7.    That we know we shall be resurrected with Christ.

Application:

  1. We as believers should pray that each person we meet know Christ as their Lord and savior.
  2. We as believers need to be in an active, functioning, growing relationship with Christ.
  3. We as believers need to realize that intimacy with Christ evolves out of time spent with Christ.
  4. We as believers need to realize that the resurrection power of Christ is available and accessible to us through faith..
  5. We as believers need to realize that suffering is a time to come closer to Christ not question Christ.
  6. We as believers need to as obedient and faithful in our living as Christ was in his dying.
  7. We as believers need to always remember that death is not the end for us as Christians.  We will be resurrected to an eternal, glorious life with Him.

I close this week’s message with this prayer:

Lord help us to realize what really matters in life.   Let us be mindful that our relationship with you should take priority over worldly things.  Lord help us to teach the next generation to seek ye first the kingdom of God and all his righteousness and all these other things shall be added unto us. (Matthew 6:33).  Thank you Lord for making us a priority to you.  Guide us and keep us is my prayer.  In Jesus name. AMEN
